Seth

Updated Bio 2/14/12Seth 26 Head

Seth is now 11 weeks old and starting to show quite a bit of German Shepherd personality. He is doing very well on potty training and will use a doggie door to let himself out if available. If he doesn't have free access to outside, as long as he is taken out right after he eats (which is currently 3 times a day), he can go for several hours in the house without incident. Seth will go into his crate at night without any fuss, and never has an accident in the crate overnight (up to 8 hours), and he will also put himself in his crate when he gets tired.

Seth can be reserved with new people at first, so his new family will need to put a lot of effort into socializing him as a puppy, and continued socializing efforts as he matures in order to help him develop into a well rounded adult. At this point, Seth does not generally jump up for attention, so continued structure and praise for good behavior will ensure he learns how to great friends and family appropriately.

Seth LOVES to play with the big dogs. He likes dogs as much as he likes people, so he will need plenty of play time with another dog who is good with large breed puppies. He is showing some interest in chasing a ball, and has a fair amount of focus. He is eager to learn and highly food motivated. His manners at feeding time have greatly improved, but he will need strong supervision as he matures to ensure his nice manners continue.

Seth rides well in a vehicle, and comes when called at the moment. He is learning how to walk on a leash and enjoys praise for his efforts. Like a typical puppy, he likes to chew, so your home must be puppy-proofed of electrical cords and anything dangling or chewable. He also loves to steal clothes from the laundry pile and parade around the house with it, so don't be surprised when your dirty socks show up in strange places!

Seth has met one dog-savvy cat and he was cautious and curious but did not chase or bark, so under careful introduction and supervision he could likely learn to live with a cat.

Original bio 2/1/12

Seth is one of 5 boy puppies rescued from Modesto with his momma, Nolla, and 2 sisters. Our best guess is that they were whelped around the first of December. While Nolla is a purebred German Shepherd, it appears that daddy wasn't.

This energetic, outgoing boy has a fluffy, tan sable coat on his large frame, with ears that are up but lean from side to side with his head. He is a friendly, outgoing boy with a lot of energy. He will need strong leadership as he grows into a big dog.
