RubioRubio Head

Rubio is a very striking black and red male about three years old. He is very distinctive with four patches of white fur across the top of his big block head. The shelter staff nicknamed him "Quad Hawk" because of these markings. Rubio is a nice sized boy weighing in at 87lbs. He has gained four pounds in his foster home, but could still stand to gain a few more. He was surrendered to the shelter by his prior owner, but no reason was given. Rubio originally passed his shelter evaluation, but quickly became kennel stressed and was made available to rescue.

Rubio currently lives in a home with other large male and female dogs, he gets along with all of them. He can be a little pushy with them when he wants to play and they don't, but will quickly back down if corrected. Rubio was likely an outdoor dog prior to his foster home, so is learning house manners. He is now housebroken, and knows some basic commands. He goes up and down stairs, but still looks a little uncomfortable.

Rubio rides nicely in the car, and will sleep quietly in his crate at night. He doesn't like being in the crate during the day if the other dogs are running around, and will protest. He has done well in a kennel during the day while construction has been done in the back yard.

Rubio is a very affectionate boy. He loves to be with his people, and loves attention. He even occasionally tries to be a lap dog! Rubio loves to go on his walks, and is even turning into a pretty good running partner. He does not have any interest in wading or swimming at this point in time. Rubio is mildly interested in the neighbors livestock. It is unknown how he is with cats or small dogs.

Rubio would like a home that will include him in daily activities, as well as continue his socialization and training. This will be an amazing dog for the right people!

This is a Level 2 Dog!
