PejaPeja Head

Peja is an adorable eight month old male, already weighing in at almost 75 pounds. He was surrendered by his owner when the owner had to go back to work and his job took him out of town.

Peja is an alert, bouncy, curious boy who still has puppy energy, and wants to check out every inch of everything. He shows signs of some training on leash, sit, down, and come, and makes good eye contact during interaction with his foster dad. He accepts correction without resentment, but may have to be told to do something twice before he believes you. He enjoys some patting and needs reassurance, but is not clingy or overly needful of attention. When finally tired out, he likes to rest at his foster dad's feet. He's a bit mouthy, as is common at his age, but is learning that it is not acceptable. He is also learning that wastebaskets are not toy stores.

This sweet-faced youngster is still growing into his big paws and long legs, and has some fun clumsy moments such as when his back end overtakes his front end on the way down the stairs. He is in the 'tweener stage: an unsure puppy hiding between his foster dad's legs when he's uncomfortable, then a big boy testing boundaries when he's feeling confident. He enjoys happy rough and tumble play with the young resident female dog, and probably would do best with a female rather than male companion dog, if living with other dogs. He does not show excessive interest in the resident cats so far, just sniffs and moves on, so probably could be trained to live with cats.

Peja will need an active home, where his curiosity and youthful energy can be appropriately channeled through training, exercise and structured activities. Unknown how he is with children.
