LindseyLindsey Head

Lindsey is a 'leggy', solid black, 80 pound beauty, who is around 10-11 months old. She was an unclaimed stray from the Modesto area, so nothing is known of her background.

She is a very sweet, easy-going girl. So far, she likes every dog and person who she meets and is not shy about approaching for play, but she generally backs away from conflict. As may be expected for a young dog, she is still learning appropriate boundaries for her mouth. Lindsey is very food-motivated and can be trained with just kibble for her reward.

When walking by her car, she gives it a long look just in case the door opens and eagerly jumps in if it does. Even though she lost her fear of car rides, she is still reluctant to put her head near open windows when it's moving. Lindsey understands the basics of walking on leash. She does not pull much but likes to grab at the leash the first few minutes, however, she's agreeable to correction and continues to improve. She sleeps well in a crate at night as long as she is not alone, also in the daytime, she can be crated for several hours with her foster pack nearby.

Lindsey is still gaining confidence. She understands basic commands but is not 100% reliable. Since learning to use stairs and the dog door, Lindsey is housebroken with use of the dog door. Some unfamiliar items still might frighten her. She tends to rely on her foster mates for leadership on whether to alert on neighborhood dogs or people at the door.

With her foster pack, she eagerly engages the playful male and yields, but still attempts, to engage the more stoic female. While the other dogs are off chasing critters, she is torn between joining them, her person, and stopping to take in some of the scents on the trail.

Her foster home is in the Tahoe area, although she has not been tested around any of the larger wildlife like bears and coyotes. It is also unknown how she behaves when left alone uncrated or without other dogs in the house to keep her company when all of her people are away.

Lindsey would fit best in a stable family situation and/or home where she has another friendly dog to bond with. She would do well with people who enjoy the outdoors to an extent. She loves the beach, park, and short/medium hikes but would not be a suitable biking or training partner. Lindsey is not an intense dog. Her prey drive so far is low, so it is possible that she could learn to live with cats.

If you're lost and ask for directions, she'll always point you over there, somewhere to her left. Rely on your GPS, not that cute, floppy ear.
