LaurentzLaurentz Head

Laurentz is an approximately three year old, very large black and tan handsome male. At 90 lbs, he's very thin and should weigh closer to 100 lbs . He's eating well, so it shouldn't take long for his weight to come back. He was picked up as a stray by a local shelter, so nothing is known of his background.

He met the two senior male German Shepherds and the 2.5 year old female German Shepherd in his foster home fairly easily. Laurentz appears starved for attention and does get very snarky when the resident dogs are near his favorite human. We recommend he be an only dog unless an experienced strong handler is willing to work with this behavior.

It appears Laurentz is housebroken and has decent house manners. Although a little restless at night, he's sleeping in a crate at bedtime. He knows sit, is learning to wait, and will lie down with some cues. He rides well in the car and walks fairly well on leash with a proper training collar. Laurentz has shown no interest in toys, but does like to chase the spray from a hose.

One of the two old cats in the foster home only comes out when she thinks any new dog is safe and after two days already has been out lying on the couch above where Laurentz is laying down. He only shows mild interest in the cats so far, so may be able to learn to live with dog savvy cats, but has been kept on leash so far to keep the cats safe.

Laurentz would be fine as an only dog. Outside he is quiet, as long as he's near the house and not put in a yard or kennel away from the house. Due to his size, he shouldn't be in a home with children younger than 12.

This is a Level 3 Dog. Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires.
