KayleeKaylee Head

Kaylee is a striking 6 year old sable female weighing 82 lbs. She was surrendered to a Sacramento shelter when her owners had a family emergency and could not care for her.

This sweet, affectionate girl knows her commands. She will shadow the primary caregiver, lay at her feet and gives good eye contact. She has excellent house manners and is living easily with cats. There were no problems or reactions when introduced to several small dogs. Kaylee loves to go for car rides, but needs help getting into the car. This girl will sleep in a crate at night and whines when she needs to go outside.

Kaylee needs a good exercise and socialization program, as she could stand to lose about 5 lbs and one of her back legs is weak and the muscles have atrophied. With regular exercise to make her use her back leg, she will regain her strength in that leg. Kaylee is very cautious with strangers and backs away initially. If she receives a treat or the other person has a friendly dog with them, Kaylee warms up more easily. The current foster home has three male German Shepherds. She lets the boys know if they are annoying her or are doing something she doesn't like, but has not lashed out at them in any way. She would probably not do well in a home with a young playful dog, as she doesn't seem interested in getting pestered by the dogs she's currently living with.

If you want a nice, loyal companion that still has energy to go for long walks, this may be the girl for you.

This is a Level 3 Dog. Please be sure you understand what this level of dog requires.
