IggyIggy Head

Iggy is a 4-5 year old female from the Grass Valley area. A smaller, compact female, she may have a touch of cattle dog or something else in her. Originally she was rescued from the streets of L.A. by an owner who could give her the love, but not the attention she needed.

Iggy is very smart, eager, and quick to learn. She has moderate energy, and likes to play with the other dogs in her foster home. She is housebroken, will sleep in a crate quietly, rides nicely in the car, and walks nicely on a leash. She knows sit and down, and is anxious to learn more. Unknown with small dogs.

Her foster-mom reports:

Iggy is a very nice girl with excellent house manners. She is housetrained and crate-trained. She understands Sit, Down, Wait and is currently working on Stay. Iggy thinks that because she is petite and only weighs around 50 pounds that she is a perfect lap dog.

Although Iggy has gotten up on the sofa a few times, saying her name in a parental tone will cause her to immediately jump off. The look on her face is that of a child who has just been caught with their hand in a cookie jar. It will make you laugh and break your heart at the same time. But don't be guilted into buying a sofa for her very own because her favorite place to be is by your side (or lying across your lap). Yes, Iggy will wrap you around her paw with her cuteness and attentiveness.

She has a soft mouth and plays gently, bringing toys from the doggy toy box to the room you are in. It's not unusual to find 8-12 toys at your feet courtesy of Miss Iggy. She does not like to go into the pool to play but does love to have the ball thrown for her. She loves tug toys but is equally content by your side quietly chewing on a bone.

Iggy has not barked for purposes of creating noise but may bark more as she feels more settled. In the evening, Iggy conducts a yard perimeter sweep and will bark to alert us when there is a neighbor or wildlife in the ravine. We live a few blocks away from a fire station and she has been trying to mimic our dog by howling every time she hears a fire truck/alarm. It's hilarious and gets a smile from everyone who hears her.

Iggy loves outings whether it be a walk or drive. Open the house door to the garage and Iggy is right there by the car door anxiously awaiting a new adventure. She is so easy to be with that it is a pleasure to take her along wherever we can. She especially enjoys shopping at Home Depot, Lowe's or Ace Hardware if they allow dogs.

She does chase our cats and did attempt to reach one who was up in a cat tree. While we initially thought she could not be around cats, further testing also indicates she is afraid of them. Iggy is very approval motivated and with proper monitoring and training, she may be able to live with cats.

To sum up, Iggy is ginormous in the love and attentiveness she will shower you with, wrapped up in an easy-to-handle, adorable, petite package.
