Honey

Honey is a sweet, cute girl like her name implies, approximately 18-24 months old and around 60 pounds. She was found wandering around loose and turned into the Sacramento SPCA by a good samaritan. When her owner was contacted, he refused to claim her or give out any information about her.

This little sweetie likes to be near her people, she has been receptive and calm when meeting new people on her walks, and enjoys the company of the respectful teenagers in the home. She gets along with the other female rat terrier dog in the home and is living with dog-savvy cats, however she will chase the cats when they run.

Honey is housebroken and sleeps uncrated on the floor next to the bed. She walks pretty well on a leash and knows some basic commands such as, Sit and Leave It, but needs more formal training. She doesn't seem to have much experience out in the world. She isn't comfortable riding in a car, she won't get in without being coaxed, and once in, lies on the floor and hides. Fortunately, she doesn't get carsick.

She has some naughty puppy habits but listens very well so she is easily corrected. If bored, she will dig in the yard and chew an unattended house slipper. She does not alarm bark yet, but will go investigate any noise she (or the resident dog) may hear. She is still a little insecure in her current environment, but with tons of love and patience, Honey will make a wonderful family addition.

Honey would most likely do well with a moderately active family, who is willing to give her the extra training and socialization she deserves.
