DirkDirk Head

Dirk is a striking 2 year old tri-color male. He is mostly black with golden legs and a white patch on his chest and one set of toes. He is on the smaller side weighing in at almost 70lbs. Dirk was an unclaimed stray from a local area shelter so nothing is known about his background.

Dirk gets along well with the other large male and female dogs in his foster home. He loves to play play play with the younger male and female dogs...chase, bitey face, a good wrestling match, it is all fun to him. While Dirk likes attention from his humans, he is not a needy dog. He will snuggle for a few minutes, then be on his way. Dirk rides nicely in the car, is easy to have in the home, and after a bit will settle in a crate at night. He has also been sleeping free in the house at night without issues.

Dirk is a very alert boy, and will notify you of any unusual happenings. He will alarm bark outside, but will calm fairly quickly. He is reactive to strangers coming in the house, so proper introductions are needed to new people. Once he knows he should accept them, he is happy to have a new friend. Dirk is very keen on all of the roosters roaming around his current neighborhood, and will pull a little on leash to go investigate them.

Dirk came to us with his eyes rubbed raw, and infected ears. He is being treated, and both seem to be clearing up. We suspect he may have some allergies. Dirk would like a family with another young large dog to play with, and humans that will continue his socialization and training. He would like to be included in daily activities with his family.

Small dogs and cats unknown.

No chickens!
