Shyla

gsdShyla is a stunningly beautiful 3 to 4 months old puppy with a structure matching top of the line GSDs.

She has typical German Shepherd coloring of black and tan, and expected to have a beautiful GSD coat when her adult coat is complete.

She was an unclaimed stray in Kentfield, so we know nothing of her background.

Like all puppies at this age, she is teething and wants to chew on everything in sight, including clothing.

On leash, she walks very closely to her person and when she sees something new, observes it carefully. She is not impulsive and takes her time before reacting. She is usually not very vocal.

She is learning to sit and stay, and take treats gently. She is almost house-trained. She sleeps in her crate and does not fuss much. She is very food focused which makes her easy to train. Given a chance, she will counter-surf and pull the table cloth to get to any food quickly.

She gets along with the big dogs in her foster home who do their best to stay clear of her sharp puppy teeth. During playtime, she can be very mouthy but does not play rough. She respects the growls and corrections from a grumpy senior golden retriever but loves to harass her big GSD sibling and steal her toys.

At this point, she is not interested in other puppies, cats, or bunnies and has displayed almost no prey drive. She is not interested in tennis balls. She is a bright but somewhat shy little girl, she learns quickly with gentle corrections. She is easy in the car (crated or not crated) and loves to explore the world.

Shyla is very under-exposed to people in general and children in particular, and will need extensive socialization. She can only go to a home with someone very experienced and dedicated to overcoming this.
In addition, she will need a home with structure and boundaries, a puppy-tolerant dog, and where everyone is experienced raising puppies! Lots of toys, walks, and stimulation, and a crate for the evenings are a must for this pup!

Adoption Fee on this dog is $350.
We require a home visit by one of our volunteers.
We adopt to the North Bay, Greater Sacramento area, Central Valley down to Merced, and parts of the East Bay, resources permitting. Regrettably, we are unable to return phone calls from outside those areas.
**Please note that we are unable to answer phone inquiries on individual dogs without an Adoption Questionnaire on file. If you have trouble downloading the form, please EMAIL us so one can be sent to you.
Thank you for visiting!
