TulipTulip Head

Updated Bio: August 2013

Tulip is now a charming and well balanced 4 month old puppy, thanks to some puppy socializing boot camp. She is small compared to her two siblings, and will probably mature to a compact and athletic 50 to 60 lbs. She is reliably housebroken with the use of a doggy-door, and enjoys having free access to the yard. With her foster brother & auntie, and her own brother Leaf, she enjoys exploring and rough-housing outside. If given freedom to choose, she will spend equal times inside & out.

She sleeps loose in the house at night without issues, is learning how to walk on a leash, and does not jump up on people. She is willing and eager to go on new adventures and politely meet new people and dogs. Tulip is not overly affectionate, preferring to 'check in' with her person and get some chest or booty scratches instead of wanting cuddles and giving lots of face kisses. She also has a bit of an independent streak and sometimes prefers to march to her own tune instead of doing what the rest of the dogs are doing. At night, sometimes she will sleep in her foster mom's room with the other dogs, and sometimes she prefers alone time sleeping under the table or on the cool bathroom tiles.

Tulip will dig, steal shoes and dirty clothes, and sneak up onto the couch when you aren't looking. When you try to punish her for her crimes, she will look straight into your eyes, bat her eyelashes and say, "Who me?" Tulip LOVES rides in the car and will already try to hop in and out to join the other dogs. She loves to put her head out the window so she can see and smell everything. She is a shameless, but well mannered beggar, hoping to wear you down in a staring contest. She also loves playing in water, as you can see from her pictures!

Tulip is a precocious young GSD who looks you in the eye and tries to guess what you are thinking. She has already begun to show some herding tendencies, in that she does nip at the heels of the other dogs when they run, and she becomes upset and vocal when her human pack does not stay together. She should not go to a home with small children or small dogs.

Tulip has moderate energy but a busy brain so without structured mental or physical activity she may create her own forms of entertainment such as chewing, digging, or barking. Commitment to her ongoing socializing and training is a must. Tulip is drawn to the alpha dogs, and will likely mature into one herself. The ideal home for Tulip will have another male dog that can handle a playful and sometimes bossy little sister.
