Suarez is a handsome 3 to 5 year old sable male. He came to us through a local shelter so little is known of his background. He originally tested as heart-worm positive but has successfully completed his treatment.
While Suarez can be nervous in new environments and with new people, once he gets comfortable, this young boy is very affectionate and just wants to be with his humans. He loves car rides.
Suarez is always excited to go out for walks and walks well on a leash. He knows some basic commands such as sit and has learned to sit and wait for his food or to come in from outside. He is housebroken and crate trained. He has a dog door to go outside and has access to inside and outside all the time.
Suarez is an active boy with a lot of energy. He loves to run around and wrestle with the female Shepherd in his foster home. When excited, Suarez can be a little mouthy and doesn't quite understand that playing with humans is different than playing with other dogs. We recommend no children under the age of 12 for this boy. Suarez was very neck and collar sensitive when we got him and he would attempt to correct his human and do his best to get his way. This has gone away with a lot of training but he can still become defensive if he feels threatened. He will need to be muzzled and possibly sedated for nail trimming and vet visits.
This boy will do best with a strong handler who understands the need for constant, consistent leadership and who will continue his training, exercise and socialization. He would also love another active large dog to play with.
This is a Level 3 Dog. Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires.
