Sadie

Sadie is a 5-6 year old Belgian Malinois or Malinois/Shepherd mix female. She has a beautiful tawny coat, and she weighs 70 pounds. She was an unclaimed stray out of the Newman area, and her microchip information showed she had been adopted out of the Stockton Shelter previously. All efforts to locate her current owner were to no avail, so she came into our rescue program.

She is very social with other dogs and greets everyone with a wagging tail. Sadie rides well in the car, looking out the window the whole time and taking in the scenery. She is quite vocal at times in new settings, but quiets down within a day. While walking on a leash, she pulls slightly, but stops with a firm correction. She is quick to roll over on her back and make her belly available for a good rub.

Like a lot of Malinois, she does get excited at the sight of fast movements, whether it be other dogs playing chase, or a squirrel darting across the field, but thus far, she has been controllable by verbal commands. She has shown some prey drive, and although she is in a foster home with little dogs, it's unknown if she would be trustworthy if left unattended with them. It also appears she would need a home without cats.

Sadie sleeps quietly in a crate all night, and settles on her bed in the living room when she is in the house. If left outside for any period of time, she lays down by the screen door, waiting for her human to come back outside or to be let back in.
