Pocahontas Pocahontas Head

Pocahontas is about a year old, solid black female who was an unclaimed stray from Modesto Shelter. When she came into rescue, this little wild child had absolutely no manners or training, and would jump all over you at any given moment. But she was as lovable as they come, and craved human affection and attention.

She quickly adapted to a family home setting, and found time in the house with her people to be her favorite way of spending the day. If given the chance, this 60 pound ball of energy would be a lap dog. She sleeps quietly in a crate at night, but may fuss for the first few minutes.

She is still young and playful with other dogs, although she does play a little rough at times. She rides well in the car, but may need some encouragement getting in. She has a good recall, and has proven to be trustworthy off leash. When excited, she can get mouthy, but is easily corrected.

Pocohantas would do best in a home that can provide strong leadership and continue her basic training and socialization. She enjoys the company of other dogs but will need a playmate that can tolerate her rough and tumble play style. She will probably become more dominant as she matures and won't be a good fit for a home with another female dog.
