Kato

Kato is a feisty, 3-4 month old cutie from Merced County. He was an unclaimed stray who tested positive for Parvo at the shelter and fortunately we got him quick enough to get him started on treatment right away. He came through it just fine and is none the worse for wear. He's a handsome black and tan fellow, and his stocky, little tree-trunk legs suggest that he's going to be a big one!

Kato loves being close to his people, and greets his family with lots of kisses. He's learning to be crate-trained, and is working on house-training and manners. He responds well to correction, although he needs further reinforcement and training, especially for not jumping up. He will countersurf if given the opportunity. He does not bark much at this point, but whines initially when put in the crate.

Like most puppies, food is his major motivator, he Sits well for food and is learning to Stay. Also typical of puppies, he loves to play with other dogs. He holds his own with the large, resident male and female GSDs during play time, unknown how he is with small dogs. Kato chases the house cats at times, but mostly seems unfazed by them.

Kato does best with another dog to keep him company, otherwise tends to dig and get into mischief outside. Unknown how he is with children.
