Special Needs

Ellena was an owner surrender to the Los Banos shelter, but little information was provided about her background. Her shelter paperwork listed her as 3-4 years old, but our vets estimate her to be 5-6. She is showing signs of arthritis in dysplastic hips and will require anti-inflammatory and/or pain medication to keep her comfortable.

She is a lovely, happy, and friendly female who weighs 79 lbs but could stand to lose about 10 lbs. Ellena seems to have fairly good house manners, appears housebroken, and crate trained. She has a calm demeanor, knows a few basic commands, and is very affectionate. She rides well in the car and likes to go for walks. She loves hanging out in the yard and soaking up the sunshine for short periods of time.

We are not sure how she is with cats, small critter, or children, although she does have a strong interest in squirrels. Ellena has moderate energy and would make a great companion dog for the lucky person who is looking for a true people pleaser.
