Dorothy

SENIOR

Dorothy is a stunning and beautiful black and tan girl approximately 7 - 8 years old. She was abandoned at a local area shelter, so nothing is known of her background.

Dorothy came into the shelter emaciated at about 58 pounds and is slowly putting on weight. Her foster Dad doesn't cook, but has made an exception for this little girl and is cooking fat balls, chicken and rice dinners, oatmeal and other delicious doggy 'food'. Dorothy doesn't approve of everything he cooks, but when she does, she prefers that he stay with her while she eats.

Dorothy has a smile that will knock your socks off and has a personality to match. She has this soft bark, that will make you do almost anything for her. She is very easy to have in the house and will follow you from room-to-room, always resting on a rug or bed. Of course, Dorothy get first dibs on the beds and rugs in all the rooms, as she's a senior and a lady! She has this soft way of coming up to you to get pets, it's almost cat like (did I really write that??), and she'll rub her head against your hand, arm or leg; she'll do the same with her body. It's sweet!

She is happily living in a house with 3 other GSDs and two medium sized dogs, with a mixture of male and female. She gets along well with all of the dogs, but does not tolerate the younger ones jumping on her or trying to play rough. She wants to engage in play, but her rear end is not up to the task.

Dorothy has a clean bill of health, except that she has rear end mobility issues. We are in the process of having her rear end evaluated, so we can come up with a plan to keep her pain-free as she ages.

Dorothy rides nicely in a car, is well mannered on a leash and is house trained with the use of a dog door.

She is a very nice girl who deserves a loving human(s) and home, and in return will be a loving companion!

I'm not sure how Dorothy would do with cats or other small furry critters.
