CookieCookie Head

Cookie is a black and tan female about one years old. She was a stray from a local shelter, so we don't know her history. It is apparent she already had a litter of puppies and it may explain why she's very underweight at only 49 pounds. She needs to slowly gain 10-15 pounds and build up her muscle tone.

As her name implies, this girl is super sweet. She loves attention and will shadow the foster as much as possible, but needs to learn that pawing and trying to climb on her human is not acceptable. She did well meeting the three German Shepherds in the foster home and was very polite with a small dachshund she encountered when visiting the vets office. The young male in the foster home plays very rough and Cookie doesn't appreciate his style. She appears housebroken and sleeps nicely through the night in a crate. She walks well on a leash and sits for her food, but is still learning the wait command. She appears to enjoy car rides and has already proven she can tolerate a bath.

So far, she hasn't shown interest in toys nor destroyed anything. She did find a nylabone and enjoyed it. She also is treat motivated and enjoys kongs or bones that can be stuffed with something yummy. If left alone, she will bark and whine a lot. She is a little better if she's with another dog, so preferably her forever home will have a good companion dog to keep Cookie company. She was left in a crate with a yummy stuffed kong, but when the foster got home about 2 hours later, Cookie had bent part of the frame of the crate and was trying to get out. She already knows how to use a dog door, but it's too early to trust her full access into the house when no one is home.

If someone wants an affectionate girl and has the time to continue her socialization, exercise, and training, they will be rewarded with an awsome dog.

This is a Level 2 Dog.
