BettyBetty Head

Meet our 'Best in Show Beauty Queen', Miss Betty, who is a 10 year old black and tan female. Found as a stray, we do not know details about her past other than the fact that she appears to have given birth to several litters.

Betty carries her 75 lbs in a compact low-riding package with an irresistible face that is matched by her gentle personality. Although timid to new experiences, she quickly warms up to meeting all people and dogs (large and small) with ease and confidence. Despite her low energy, she will occasionally express her desire to play with other dogs by voicing a baritone grunt. Betty also likes to put her paw up to shake hands when meeting new people.

She currently lives with another Foster male (see Shaggy) with whom she finds comfort while free in the home during long work days. She was introduced to a cat and showed no response. Small critters are unknown. She is housebroken and quite skilled using the dog door. During the night, she sleeps calmly in her crate. Daily short walks and car rides have become familiar in her routine and have allowed her to build strength and social stamina. Due to Betty's age and not being used to regular exercise, she has been getting anti-inflammatory meds to keep her comfortable.

Betty is housebroken and has very good house manners, although she does enjoy rearranging some items in the home (ex: shoes) and on occasion will try her best to counter surf (she's not that good at it). She shows periods of interest with the ball and will occupy herself with a synthetic chew bone. When she reunites with her human, she will display bursts of energy and is learning to inhibit her mouthy excitement. Betty enjoys affection and endless belly rubs but will also choose to lay calmly on her bed by herself as a content senior lady. There is nothing to complain about when Betty looks at you with her soulful eyes.

She has suffered from chronic skin and ear infections (with hematomas) in her past that left her with hidden patches of scars on her body and flaccid ears. One thing for certain, this does not stop her from expressing her contagious charm. She also suffers from a severe flea allergy. which is currently managed with a supportive diet and medication for her symptoms. Thus far, she is showing improvement.

Come meet her for yourself and see why we call her our precious gem!

This is a Level 2 Dog.
