ThunderThunder Head

Thunder is an 8-year-old, male, black and tan GSD surrendered by his owner who had him since he was a puppy. His previous owners had to move in with family and were not able to bring Thunder with them.

Thunder has excellent house manners. He does not get on furniture, is housebroken and has done well when left in the house for short periods of time. He walks well on a leash and knows basic commands. He learned very quickly how to wait for his food and I believe he will be very easy to train. He ignores the resident cat and has gotten along very well with the resident feisty female GSD/Mal and the other 2 male GSD's. He sleeps quietly all night on a comfy dog bed near his foster mom.

Thunder is truly a very easy guy, he is perfectly happy lounging around with his people nearby or he is always up for a ride in the car or a nice walk. He may have some seasonal or possible food allergies with itchy skin and some patches where he's been chewing and scratching. I have been giving him 75mg (3 Bendaryl tabs) 3 times a day (morning, mid afternoon and bedtime). He is also eating a grain free, single protein kibble. The itching seems to be getting better. With time, a few good baths and good nutrition I think his coat will be beautiful.

The previous owner has stated that he is afraid of fireworks, however, with the recent thunderstorm he did just fine. He meets people and other dogs well. I have not tested him with small children but his previous owner said he does well with kids and I have not seen anything that would make me think he would not be safe with kids.
