MonaMona Head

Mona is a 3-4 year old female from a Sacramento area shelter. She was surrendered to the shelter from a family that had her a month and said she was afraid of their cats. Her current foster home has dog-savvy cats and she whines when she sees them, but seems to ignore them when brought close.

Mona is currently living in a foster home with two older confident male German Shepherds, although she can get rough with her play and will grumble at another dog if she doesn't approve of something. It is unknown how she would do with small dogs. When given something to play with that she really likes, Mona is known to find a place to bury her treasure for safe keeping.

She is housebroken, but needs reminders to stay off the furniture. She also will sleep easily in a crate. She doesn't seem to have been around a washer & dryer, as she was a little startled by them. At some point in life, she must have lived outdoors, as both ears show evidence of fly strike. Mona walks well on leash, seems always on alert, and knows basic commands. This girl could live easily as an only dog or with other confident males. She is usually quiet outside unless she knows there is more fun she's missing out on outside of the fence line and then she whines and claws to try to get to the other side.v

Mona likes getting into the cars and rides well. She is affectionate and has gotten along well with all the people she's met. With continued training and socialization, this girl will make a confident handler a great companion and family dog.

This is a Level 3 Dog. Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires.
