Lucas is an extra-large, handsome young adult male, around 85-90 lbs and about 2.5 years old. He has one Roger Rabbit ear that just fits his personality. His tail, tongue, and huge paws tend to knock over everything from water glasses to toddlers, so a home where everyone is bigger than Lucas would be best.
Lucas has wonderful house manners. He knows how to let himself in and out of a dog door, and prefers to sleep inside close to his person. He is especially fond of morning cuddles, and may try to steal your fuzzy slippers or get you to play in the morning. He knows to stay off the furniture and beds, and is pretty good about leaving items on the kitchen counter alone, but an occasional frozen pizza left too close to the edge is fair game for this big boy who can reach the counter without his paws leaving the floor.
Lucas loves all the other dogs he’s met, but may bond to a dog instead of his person, so he may do best in a home as an only dog, but would love to have doggie visitors. If other dogs are in the home, his owner must give plenty of one-on-one time and demonstrate strong leadership skills to ensure he is properly responsive to his human.
Lucas is a quick and eager learner. He still needs some lessons on the leash, but will fairly easy to train for someone with the commitment and leadership skills. He loves to go for rides in the car.
If you are looking for the classic, dignified German Shepherd …. this is NOT your dog! Lucas is a great big goof ball who doesn’t take himself too seriously. He loves life, is very exuberant, and will fill your life with laughter. You must have a good sense of humor to be considered for this guy.
