Jake is a very handsome, energetic, 11 month old youngster with the classic black & tan coat. He's looking for a playmate of the human or canine variety. He is loving and easy-going, and can’t get enough rubs and pets. He will probably fill out to weigh about 80 pounds.
He can be a little reactive to new situations by barking, but is easily corrected, and with continued exposure to the outside world will make a great companion dog. He thinks chasing cats is a great game, but can be discouraged from this behavior with a firm command. The puppy in him tends to take over at times, especially when meeting new people as he likes to greet them by jumping up and giving a big wet kiss. He’s learning how to walk nicely on a leash and obey basic commands. He is food motivated, and looks forward to his treats.
Jake is looking for a home that is willing to take him to basic obedience classes and continue exposing him to life outside of a kennel. He is not completely housebroken yet, but is very close. He stays on his bed while supervised, but will venture off and explore the house when he knows no one is watching. He scrambles back to his bed at the sounds of approaching feet. (Its really quite cute!) Considering his warm, tender heart and loving nature, he would be a perfect dog for a novice handler.
