JacksonJackson Head

Jackson is a very large handsome black and tan male. He is about 4 years old and according to the shelter, weighs in at 113 lbs. Jackson could stand to loose a few pounds, but is still a very large boy. Jackson was surrendered to the shelter when his owner had to move to an apartment.

According to the previous owner, Jackson was primarily an indoor dog who is housebroken and crate trained. He lived with other dogs, cats, birds and three children (although he would occasionally chase the cat.) We have not seen Jackson with cats, birds or small children yet, so care and supervision would be needed. He has liked the older respectful children he has met. Jackson was apparently allowed to sit on the furniture in his previous home, and we are trying to teach him that is not acceptable, but he is pretty sure it is!

Jackson seems to know some basic commands such as sit and down. He does pull on leash, so we are working on heel. He also still jumps up a little and will paw at you when he wants something. Due to his large size, care would need to be taken that Jackson would not knock someone down. Jackson is a little anxious in the car for a few minutes, then settles in and rides nicely. He really seems to like to go for a ride. Jackson gets along with the other large male and female dogs in his foster home. He likes to try and initiate play, and also likes to play fetch. Jackson also likes to wade and splash in the stream near the house, and flip the water up with his nose.

Jackson would like a home that will continue to socialize and train him. He would like to be included in daily activities.

This is a Level 2 Dog!
