SPECIAL NEEDS

Harley DavidsonHarley Davidson Head

Harley Davidson is a handsome 6.5 year-old solid black male with a medium-low energy level weighing about 95 lbs. He was taken to a boarding kennel several years ago and left by his original owners. The boarding kennel is closed and asked us to find him a home.

This sweet boy has come out of his shell, after years of being primarily in a kennel. He gets along with the other large and small male and female dogs in his foster home, and ignored the dog-savvy cats in his previous foster home (they don't run). Harley is enjoying his new indoor life and quickly accepted his crate for sleeping, or is trustworthy sleeping free at night. He walks very well on leash and has even ignored chickens on his walks around the neighborhood. Harley loves to follow his foster mom around, and while still unsure of many things, he looks to her or his pack mates for reassurance. Harley is a little less sure of men, and can take a bit to warm up.

At the kennel, Harley was found with wire around one of his back legs. We don't know how long it was there, but he now favors one rear leg. Daily leash walks have helped his recovery. Harley also has been diagnosed with perianal fistulas. After several months of treatment, he is now symptom free. There is a possibility that the fistulas may return, however.

Harley is looking for a home to call his own. Based on one foster home without any other dogs, we determined that Harley becomes very distressed without the companionship of another dog. The more the merrier as far as he's concerned. Continued socialization and training will help this guy continue to blossom.

This is a Level 2 Dog!
