Hank is a handsome 3 year old male, with the classic black & tan coat. He has one ear that tilts in just a bit, just enough to give him some extra charm. He's good-sized, and weighs around 85-90 pounds. He was confiscated from his owner who used to let him run loose in the neighborhood -- and like most German Shepherds, he took a liking to chasing cats, cars, kids on bicycles or skateboards, just about anything that moved.
Hank is a good ol' boy just like his name. He's mostly pretty laid-back, but he can get pushy at times. He's got a touch of the clown in him, and he's affectionate with those he knows, but he takes the job of alarm barking seriously and isn't inclined to let people on his property unless he's told it's okay, then he's good with it. He's housebroken and well-mannered in the house, doesn't get into things he shouldn't, but he really likes to play in the dirt and will dig himself a nice hole to lay in. He gets along with other dogs so far, will play with other playful dogs, and especially likes to entice his buddies to help him dig. Just like most other good ol' boys.
He doesn't have a whole lot of training, and was encouraged to put his front feet up on people, generally from a sitting postion. When he doesn't know what else to do, he'll paw at you. He's getting better about that but not over it yet, and he's learned to Sit and Wait for his dinner, and he walks fairly well on leash. He loves to go for rides and happily jumps into a truck.
This is a big, strong boy, and his tendency to put his feet up on people makes him too much for a home with small children. He needs a home with an experienced owner who knows how to handle a mature, confident male and can give him the training and leadership he needs. He'd enjoy another dog companion to help him excavate his caverns.
NO CATS.
