HamptonHampton Head

Hampton is a striking 8 month old, sable long coat male. He was a stray from a Sacramento shelter, so nothing else is known about his original past.

This young boy is living in a home with a young female German Shepherd, two senior male German Shepherds and two cats. He loves to play with the female dog, but seems to understand that the older dogs prefer to be left alone. He occasionally notices the cats, but is easily distracted with toys and verbal cues, and does not display prey drive or aggression toward them. He is not yet housebroken and is learning house manners. He is kept on leash when inside so is not given much opportunity to get into trouble. At night, Hampton is sleeping well in a crate, with some items in the crate to chew on.

Hampton can be very mouthy and jumps up when excited. He is picking up on the fact that "no bite" or "leave it" means he is not to touch or bite at whatever the item or body part is he's trying to touch. Hampton is also learning some basic commands and in three days caught on to waiting for his food bowl and the green light to eat when told. When getting attention, Hampton will lean into you or roll over for a belly rub. He is smart and wants to please.

This boy will make a fabulous companion to a home looking for a young, playful dog and willing to put the time into continuing his training, exercise him daily and continue his socialization. Due to his size and mouthing, he should not go to a home with small children. Small dogs and critters unknown.

This is a Level 3 Dog. Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires.
