Gideon

Gideon is just the cutest danged German Shepherd-wannabe pup to be found inside 3 counties! He's somewhere around 8-9 months old, with a lot of puppy still to go, all wrapped up in a lovely, plush sable coat. He's smaller than most of our German Shepherds, and probably won't be more than 45-50 pounds when he's all grown up. He has one ear that stands at half-mast and a striking half-mask on his face, giving him a rakish look to go along with his smart, quick personality.

Gideon is a happy, outgoing, affectionate pup who loves to play with the big boys at his foster home. He's a pesty little brother to the bigger dogs sometimes, but he's trying really hard to be good boy most of the time. He seems to be housebroken so far, he's only put his feet up on the counter once, and he doesn't seem inclined to get into things he shouldn't, but he IS still a puppy, and he does love to chew on dog-toys and dog-bones. He does pretty well in a crate, walks pretty well on a leash, and does a wiggly sit for about a nano-second for his dinner.

Gideon still needs a lot of guidance about how to be a well-mannered boy, he still gets a little mouthy when he gets excited, and he hasn't quite got four-on-the-floor down pat yet, so he'll still jump on people at times. He'd probably overwhelm a smaller child, but would be okay with older children who understand that his mouthiness is just puppy play and needs to be discouraged. He's very responsive to verbal corrections.

He gets excited around cats and other animals, he barks and would probably chase them if they ran. He's an energetic boy who plays hard like most puppies, and does pretty well at settling down in the house if he's had enough exercise. He clearly knows the best way to chill with an afternoon siesta in front of the air conditioner!

Gideon would do best in a fairly active home with another dog for companionship and socialization. In return, he'll be a fun family dog with a happy outlook on life and a lot of affection to give.
