DolanDolan Head

Dolan is a very handsome 3 - 4 year old solid black long haired male who weighs in at about 80 lbs. He came into rescue when he was found wandering the streets of a nearby county with Brenna (Momma black GSD) and Baby Bauer (a 4 month old black GSD puppy), so not much is known of his background.

He loves getting attention, being around his people, and will sit and offer a paw whenever he gets a chance. This boy seems like an old soul; has a very calm, laid back, and easy-going demeanor. He has been friendly to everyone and every dog he has met, but could use continued socialization to build his confidence, as he is a little reserved at times.

Dolan is one of 5 large male dogs in his foster home; gets along well with all of them, but at times, is content just to be out in the yard, while the rest of the pack is inside with their person. He has recently started to feel safe with the pack, and is joining them in a game of chase or a little rough and tumble play. He is being fostered with Vinny, an 8 - 10 month old puppy, who has picked Dolan as his new best friend and most evenings you'll find the two of them playing before bed. It's fun to see Dolan learn it's ok to roll around, play with a squeaky toy or to play tug with a rope.

Dolan is housebroken, is a very easy dog to have in the house, and sleeps free at night with the resident dogs. He seems to know basic commands like Sit and Down, and walks very nice on a leash. Dolan enjoys car rides, tolerates baths, and loves to be brushed. He seems to be a bit of a baby and/or drama queen, crying if you check his ears, his teeth, or grab his collar to lead him somewhere. He is a "soft" little 80-pound boy, so care needs to be taken not to be "rough" with him.

This boy will be a great family dog, as he is very gentle with children (care must be taken anytime a dog and children are together), but cannot go to a home with cats. Dolan would love to be part of an active home that will continue his socialization, and will give him all the attention he deserves. I think he could be an only dog, but would probably like to have a non-dominant playmate as a brother or sister.

No cats or small furry critters!

This is a Level 2 Dog!
