Aries

Aries is an 18 month old handsome black and tan male. He currently weighs in at about 72 pounds, but is on the thin side and could stand to gain some weight. He was found roaming Yolo County with a muzzle on. The area he was found is known for cock fighting so our best guess is he was likely muzzled to prevent injury to the roosters. The animal control officer said it didn't take Aries long to warm up to her not only to be picked up, but to take the muzzle off of him.

Aries is one of six large dogs in his foster home. He gets along with both the males and females, and is happy to just hang out with them, or join in a game of chase and rough and tumble. Aries seems to have lived in a home before. He appears housebroken, and seems familiar with stairs, hairdryers, washing machine, etc. Aries is a very sweet boy and easy to have in the house, even though he doesn't seem to have had much training. He does seem to know sit, and down, but that is about it.

Aries rides quietly in the car. He seems a little nervous, but will settle after a little while. On leash, if you don't keep Aries on a heel, he is likely to wander right in front or right behind you and trip you up. Aries sleeps quietly in a crate at night. While eating, Aries has been known to growl if another dog approaches, and is learning quickly that is not appropriate behavior. Care will need to be taken with other animals or children at feeding time until more work has been done to correct this behavior.

Aries is looking for a home where he can participate in daily activities. Continued socialization and training are a must.
