Allana
SENIOR
Allana (Ebony) is an approximate 7 - 8 year old gorgeous black female with a sweet and soft demeanor, an extremely soft coat, and weighs about 65lbs. She has recently returned to rescue due to her primary care taker passing away. When she arrived in rescue in 2009, we gave her the name Allana, but her adopted parents gave her the name Ebony.
Allana initially was shy and timid when arriving at her foster home, not sure about her foster dad or her five foster siblings and stayed mostly in her crate. Over the last three to four weeks, she has engaged with her foster dad and routinely comes up for pets and wakes him up in the morning with kisses. She has also has warmed up to the resident dogs and has become part of the pack. She has acted appropriately with all dogs and people she has met, even rambunctious middle school aged children.
She has medium energy, and has impeccable house manners. Allana is crate trained, housebroken, knows how to use a dog door, and has earned to right to roam the house freely with the resident dogs. She has previously lived with a Jack Russell Terrier, who liked to bark non-stop at her, and prefers to live with calm, respectful, and easy-going dogs. We are unsure how she would do with cats or other small furry critters.
Allana is sweet and soft, but it does take her a few minutes to warm up to new people. She is also a very quite dog, her foster dad had not heard her bark or make a sound for the first couple of weeks, but as she has grown more confident in her foster home, she does alarm bark - appropriately - when a delivery person or other individual comes into the front yard.
She knows basic obedience commands, knows to sit/lie down and wait before being fed, walks nicely on a loose leash and is great in the car.
Allana would love to go into a home where there is someone home most of the time or has another well-behaved dog to hang out with while her people are away. She does not need a lot in the way of exercise, but enjoys getting out for a 1-2 mile walk a couple times a day.
This girl is an exceptional dog, who prefers a quieter home where there is not a lot of hustle and bustle - people or animals. She will require someone who is willing to take it slow with her while she gains confidence, gets to know you and her new surroundings.
She will become a loyal and attentive companion to the lucky person or family that adopts her.

Allana is a little over 1 year old, she is a soft sweet solid black girl who needs a little confidence building. She gets along great with all other dogs, once she has a minute to warm up to new people she enjoys attention from humans. Allana is good on leash, house broken, crate trained and loves to go for rides in the car. She is a quiet dog, her foster mom has not heard her bark, not even at the cat.
A quiet home with someone who will continue helping her gain confidence would be perfect for Allana.
