Maggie Head

SENIOR

Adopted 12/29/16

Maggie

Maggie is a lovely female German Shepherd who is a VERY young 9 years old. She has a stunning gold and white colored coat, which is extremely soft, and weighs about 62 pounds. Her previous owner surrendered her to rescue when she became ill and could no longer care for her.

Maggie has easily blended into her foster home's pack, and lives with three large German Shepherds and two medium sized dogs that are a mix of ages and sexes. She has acted appropriately with all dogs - small and large - that she has met and could possibly be ok living with cats.

She is a smart girl with medium energy, who has amazing house manners.

This is a Level 3 Dog. Please be sure you understand what this level of dog requires.

Zeb Head
More

Adopted 12/21/16

Zeb

Zeb is what appears to be an 8 week old male Belgian Malinois puppy. Zeb was a stray at a local shelter so we don't know much about his background.

Since Zeb is a Malinois, we could only assume that he is going to grow up to be a high energy dog that requires at least daily exercise and training.

Zeb will need a home that has another dog so he can have someone to play with and help him with social skills. Zeb needs a home that will devote many hours each day to physical and mental exercise along with training.

Zabrina Head
More

Adopted 12/18/16

Zabrina

Zabrina is a petite female 6 month old Malinois. She was an owner surrender to rescue when the family quickly realized they were not ready to handle the energy of this breed.

Zabrina"s current foster home is a ranch setting where she is kept very active and busy most of the day. She loves running alongside the ATV, swimming in the pond, and playing chase with at least 6 other dogs. Her best buddy is her foster brother Nixon, a large 6 month old GSD, who she chases and wrestles with constantly.

Typical of a Malinois puppy, Zabrina is very mouthy and would not be appropriate for a family with small children. She has some ball drive, but not enough for a serious working dog.

Buddy Lee Head
More

Adopted 12/17/16

Buddy Lee

Buddy Lee is a 3 year old black and tan handsome male weighing about 85 lbs. He was adopted from a Sacramento area shelter in August 2016. Originally a stray, so nothing is known of his background. A home purchase fell through for the adopters and they couldn't find housing to allow a German Shepherd, so Buddy Lee was surrendered to us two months after being adopted.

Buddy Lee has been living with two Chihuahuas. He met them without a problem, but because of the size difference and Buddy Lee's rough style of play, he is not left alone with the Chihuahuas when no one can supervise him.

Cindy-Lou Head

Adopted 12/17/16

Cindy-Lou

Cindy-Lou is an adorable petite Dutch shepherd mix. At about 3 - 4 years old she weighs in at about 70lbs. Cindy-Lou was found by a good Samaritan who kept her a couple weeks while trying to find the owner, then surrendered her to a local shelter so not much is known about her background.

Cindy-Lou is a bundle of energy and loves to play play play with a couple of her foster brothers. You would never know she is only half their size as she seems to get the best of them. After a proper introduction, Cindy-Lou has gotten along with all of the large dogs in her foster home, but no small dogs or other small furry critters for this girl. Cindy-Lou likes to play ball, but is easily distracted by flying insects or other more interesting things.

NO CATS OR SMALL FURRY CRITTERS

Nixon Head
More

Adopted 12/17/16

Nixon

Nixon is a 6 month old bi-color medium energy busy boy. He was pulled from a local shelter, so nothing is known of his background. It appears he will be a large boy once he matures, as he already weighs over 50 pounds. He is very mouthy, but learning manners, and has a desire to please his person. Nixon loves to play with other dogs, and has a strong desire to be with people.

Nixon would not be happy left alone for long periods of time, as he currently lives on a ranch with someone home most of the day. He runs about 3 miles a day around the ranch and stays close to his person doing daily chores. He is quick to jump in the truck to go for a ride, and likes to be in the house during his "down time".

Ottowa

Ottowa aka Otto is a 12 month old, black and tan male weighing about 60 lbs but can stand to put on a few pounds. He came from a Merced shelter, but we learned from a neighbor of the original owner that he was an outdoor only dog that was not well cared for. Otherwise, nothing is known of his background.

Otto walks well on the leash, but doesn't know his basic commands. He learned to sit easily (or he doesn't get fed), but we are still working on other commands. He is learning house manners and hasn't had any accidents in his foster home, although has not been given free run of the house.

Celestra Head
More

Adopted 12/3/16

Celestra

Celestra is a 5 year old black and tan girl and weights about 75 pounds. She was an unclaimed stray from Modesto Shelter. She was picked up at a local Vet Hospital where she had been taken by a good Samaritan who found her injured, possibly hit by a car, and suffering from a broken front leg. When no owner came forward during her time in the shelter, she came into rescue where her leg was properly treated. She is expected to make a full recovery in a few weeks.

Celestra appears to have been an outside dog that was not given much attention or training. But due to her sweet and affectionate demeanor, she was quickly deemed highly adoptable. She is learning proper house manners and adventuring out in the big world.

Zyler

Zyler is a 9-10 month old male Malinois weighing about 55 lbs. He was a stray from a Modesto area shelter, so we have no background information on him. True to the Malinois breed, he is high energy and has high PLAY-drive.

He is in a foster home with a young female german shepherd who he likes to engage in play. The two older male German Shepherds were met submissively with licks to their face and ears. The resident cat sat quietly on a couch with Zyler tethered to his foster mom nearby and he showed no interest. He was introduced to a 20 lb dog and did well.

Deschutes Head
More

Adopted 11/26/16

Deschutes

Deschutes is a large 2 year old sable male. He was pulled from a local shelter when his owners failed to reclaim him. He is an escape artist, who will climb a 6 foot fence to find his people or other dogs. At the shelter he required a kennel with a roof on it to keep him contained. He does not appear to have the desire to run away, or walk about the neighborhood, just a strong desire to be with his family. Once he knows he cannot escape the kennel, he settles, and quietly waits for his people to return.

Deschutes walks very nicely on a leash, loves car rides, and has nice house manners. He can be a little submissive when meeting new people, dropping to the ground and rolling over for a belly rub.

Davos Head
More

Adopted 11/5/16

Davos

Davos is a tall, affectionate, mellow one year old. He was picked up with an older female German Shepherd in the Turlock area after reports of dogs that had bit a cat. The owners reclaimed the female, but Davos was left at the shelter. He came to us underweight, and can still afford to gain a few pounds. He walks well on leash with only gentle correction, is housebroken, has done well sleeping in his crate, and has pretty good mouth manners, especially for a young dog.

There is an endearing, slightly clumsy way about him. He's not really in a hurry and lets you enjoy your breakfast before getting your day going. Around the house, he easily rolls onto his back for belly rubs. When he's receiving attention, he occasionally digs his head in your lap, then tries to squirm his way onto the furniture with you.

He was an owner surrender from a Sacramento area shelter. His previous owners moved and couldn't take him along. They did teach him some basic commands, but he would benefit from a refresher course.

Jeb is in a foster home with a young female German Shepherd and two older male German Shepherds. He met them easily, but is not interested in playing with them, even though the young female is doing her best to encourage him. He has been in a room with a cat that was not moving and did fine. He's not off leash to truly test how he would do, but his mellow demeanor suggests he could learn to live with cats. He also has not been tested with small dogs or children, so caution will be needed when doing introductions with either small dogs or small children.

Regus is a 1-2 year old black and tan male. He was a stray from the Modesto area, so we do not know much about his background. We do know that he received poor nutrition as a puppy, causing splayed feet and long, lanky legs. He seems to be in great health despite this.

He is a calm, quiet boy that is housebroken and has good housemanners. In his foster home, he enjoys the company of other dogs. He is well behaved around the cats and small critters with supervision. He is aloof to strangers and wants time to get to know you. Once he does, you are his best friend.

Oso Bear

Estimated to be four years old, Oso Bear is an easy-going male weighing around 90 pounds. He has a full chest and stocky build. With that and his full, thick fur, his name is descriptive. He was surrendered with sadness by his owners when they experienced significant financial changes.

Oso Bear is calm, gentle, happy and affectionate. He has nice manners with people, and sits to ask to be patted, particularly for children. In his previous home, he lived nicely with small children. He will also nudge an elbow now and then, to remind you to pat him. He likes to follow his foster around, and has a happily wagging tail and smile when his foster gets home. He is cautious when an unknown man first tries to pat him, but will warm up and ask for more pats if he feels the man is trustworthy.

He will calm down in a crate or kennel. Sig seems to have lived in a home before, and has not had an accident in the house so far. Sig seems to know some basic commands, but can be a little stubborn in executing them.

Ella Head

SPECIAL NEEDS

Adopted 1/2/16

Ella

Ella has epilepsy. Her regimen is one pill twice a day, and liquid medicine once a day. Currently the cost of the medication is about $65.00 a month. Research could be done to determine if there is a less expensive place to purchase the medications.

Ella is a 5-6 year old beautiful redheaded female. Our best guess is that she is a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix, and is medium size weighing in at about 70lbs. Ella was originally adopted out of a local shelter, but was returned for jumping the fence.

In her current foster home, Ella is outside during the day with two foster brothers while her people are at work, and she doesn't seem to have any interest in jumping the 6' horse fencing.
